Network customers gain direct access and reduced latency for communications between Europe and U.S.
Portland, Ore. – March 18, 2014 –
Integra™, a provider of fiber-based, carrier-grade networking, communications and technology solutions, has extended its network reach to Europe through an agreement with international peering leader IX Reach. The agreement will extend Integra’s network reach through four of Europe’s largest Internet Exchanges, providing Integra customers with direct access and low-latency data transport to more than 1,000 European peer networks.
“As multi-location enterprises have grown as a portion of our overall customer mix, so too has network traffic from our U.S. networks to points across the world, particularly in Europe,” said Jason Koenders, senior vice president, engineering and network planning at Integra. “Expansion across the Atlantic was the first logical step for us internationally and serves as a solid complement to the investments we’ve made, and will continue to make, in expanding access to our networks. We’re pleased to deliver this low-latency, cost-efficient international connectivity to our customers and add further value to Integra’s network capabilities.”
Integra customers will benefit from high-speed, reliable network connections and seamless workload management between international offices. Current and new customers who rely on connectivity to Europe, such as content providers, health care providers and researchers, financial services organizations and others, will profit from the dependable, high-bandwidth range of Integra’s network and IX Reach’s superior and robust infrastructure.
“We’re very pleased Integra have chosen and entrusted IX Reach’s global network with its data transport and European expansion,” commented Rob Parker, network architect at IX Reach. “IX Reach’s robust and resilient network is used and relied upon by some of the biggest names in telecoms, and we know Integra’s customers will quickly see the benefits of this new partnership. Remote peering is an excellent solution for networks requiring quick expansion – it delivers all the benefits of peering but without the hassle of securing colocation space or specialist hardware infrastructure at the IXPs.”
This agreement follows Integra’s strategic network expansion announcements earlier this year including the recent connection of its long-haul fiber network from Salt Lake City to Sacramento and a 25 percent increase in Ethernet over Copper (EoC) access within the company’s footprint.
