- Five-year deal builds on existing successful relationship and covers radio access network and professional services
- Aims to deliver a marked improvement in network performance
Nokia Solutions and Networks has been awarded a contract by Vodafone to modernize and expand its existing radio network. Under the five-year deal, NSN will supply its Single RAN advanced platform, operations support systems and related services. In conjunction with this agreement, Vodafone has also selected NSN to provide a common Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution.
NSN will implement its Single RAN advanced platform based on its award-winning Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Station. In addition, the company will upgrade its NetAct network management system to enable an effective monitoring, management and optimization of Vodafone’s network. Support services include network implementation, planning and optimization as well as care services to ensure rapid completion of the network modernization.
Under a separate agreement, NSN will also provide Vodafone with its SDM solution to enable rapid, cost-effective development of future applications and services.
“Vodafone is one of the largest network operators globally and understands the importance of investing in the latest technology to maximize its end users experience,” said Wolfgang Hackenberg, vice president of Vodafone global customer team at NSN. “As we implement our advanced radio access platform to improve the existing network infrastructure, we will help Vodafone to increase the performance and efficiency of its mobile network.”
