[Shenzhen, China, February 13, 2014]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced support for the launch of the Open Group supply chain standard and accreditation program launched last week, which is designed to strengthen the global supply chain for ICT products worldwide against increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks.
Huawei’s Global Chief Security Officer, John Suffolk, said that the Open Group effort is “a perfect example of the kind of international standard with an accompanying independent accreditation program, which private companies and governments around the world should consider participating in so that we can move more quickly towards a fact-based, risk-informed approach to the global cyber security challenge.” In October 2013, Huawei released the “Huawei Cyber Security White Paper” detailing Huawei’s approach to global assurance and support for collaboration among private companies and governments to agree on key standards, best practices, and norms of conduct to address global ICT risk. The white paper is available at: http://pr.huawei.com/en/connecting-the-dots/cyber-security/hw-310548.htm.
According to the Open Group, organizations applying to become accredited to the supply chain standard must provide evidence of conformance to each of the requirements, demonstrating they have processes in place to secure their in-house development and supply chains across the entire commercial on-the-shelf software (COTS) ICT product lifecycle, including the design, sourcing, build, fulfillment, distribution, sustainment and disposal phases.
The Open Group officially launched their Accreditation Program last week in San Francisco and organizations can now download the O-TTPS v1.0 and the O-TTPS Accreditation Policy from the Trusted Technology Section in The Open Group Bookstore.
