OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), February 05, 2014 – Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) today introduces “The Crossover,” a video series featuring stories about NBA players that takes fans beyond the game and gives them an inside look at players’ lives beyond the court.
Each week through May 29, Sprint will feature one to two NBA players, providing fans a look into their lives through untold stories. With “The Crossover,” fans will get to know more about their favorite players, including their personalities, family life, and how their passions outside basketball affect their lives as professional athletes. A total of 30 players will be featured and all videos can be found at Sprint.com/NBA.
The players will be featured in 3- to 5-minute segments, shown through the unique lens of some top directors in sports, music and entertainment. Sprint joined forces with five directors – Coodie and Chike (Coodie Simmons and Chike Ozah), Madbury Club (Phillip T. Annand), Carl Ford, Timothy Johnson and One 50 One Productions, and Danny Hastings – who will direct and produce the segments to tell the players’ stories.
“Fans tell us that they want to learn more about NBA players off the court so they can better understand their performance on the court,” said Steve Gaffney, vice president-Marketing, Sprint. “We are working closely with players and directors to give fans a unique and intimate perspective on the players as people – their lives, their struggles and what motivates them to be the best.”
Currently three players – Boston’s Jeff Green, Denver’s Kenneth Faried and Jared Dudley of the Los Angeles Clippers – are featured on the site. Sacramento’s Jimmer Fredette will join the group when his segment launches on Feb. 6.
All videos will be archived on sprint.com/NBA and each will include a brief biography about the player and director.
