Next generation PON technology specifications to be advanced at the first member meeting of 2014
SAN JOSE, CA – February 12, 2014 – Calix, Inc. (NYSE:CALX, news, filings) today announced the company will host the first 2014 Quarterly Meeting for the Full Service Access Network (FSAN) organization, a group of more than 80 leading global telecommunications service providers, equipment manufacturers, and testing labs, with the mission to drive applicable standards and new technical specifications for Passive Optical Networks (PON) services and products. Calix, a two-time host of the event, will kick-off the meeting at the San Jose Convention Center on Mon., Feb. 17, and host participants throughout the remainder of the week.

During the week-long meeting, FSAN members will continue work on Next Generation Passive Optical Network 2 (NG-PON2) specifications. With much progress already complete, the group will focus on finalizing NG-PON2 specifications supporting 40 Gigabit asymmetrical and symmetrical access services for both residential and business subscribers in a manner that enables a “pay-as-you-grow” model. Upon completion, FSAN members will contribute results to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), which will issue recommendations defining the official standards for NG-PON2 architecture and technology.
