Fibertech Networks to Build New Metro Fiber Network in Michigan

Initial Carrier and Local Business Agreements Foster Company’s New Network Expansion

ROCHESTER, N.Y.–()–Continuing its aggressive network expansion plans, Fibertech Networks, one of the fastest growing fiber-optic network providers, today announced it will build a new significant fiber optic network in Detroit and its suburbs.

Fibertech’s initial network will encompass more than 750 route miles and will pass through numerous suburban cities including Trenton, Canton, Dearborn, Southfield, Warren, Troy and Chesterfield, among others. It marks the company’s 30th U.S. metro network, all constructed and operated by Fibertech.

“This is a major expansion for Fibertech and an important step in our development as one of the largest and fastest growing metro fiber providers in the Eastern U.S.,” said John K. Purcell, Chairman and CEO of Fibertech. “We are excited to join other businesses in moving the needle to invest in Detroit and the state of Michigan, infusing the area with an economic development initiative that we believe will help foster telecom competition, and business and employment growth.”

The company’s service offering encompasses both dark fiber and optical broadband options to area businesses that have predominately used traditional carriers and lines in the past. The company’s complete optical solutions portfolio of services focuses on point-to-point and multi-point Ethernet service in speeds ranging from 5 Mbps to 100 Gbps; DWDM; dedicated Internet access; and collocation.

In addition to Detroit, Fibertech has networks operational in Pittsburgh, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Toledo, OH ; Providence, RI; Hartford, Bridgeport, Stamford, Danbury, New London and New Haven, CT; Springfield and Worcester, MA; Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton, White Plains, and Albany, NY; Wilmington, DE; Montgomery County, MD; Trenton, Newark and Atlantic City, NJ; and Philadelphia.

“This new network expansion is a natural 2013 extension of our market footprint given our growing presence in the Midwest and, most recently, our extension into five new markets in Ohio including Toledo,” added Purcell.
