Camper Delivers 60 Percent Improvement in Website Performance with Level 3 CDN to Enhance Online Experience for Global Customers

Level 3 Solution Increases E-commerce Conversion Rates by More Than 40 Percent in Some Countries to Drive Online Sales for Camper

LONDON, Jan. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced its content delivery network (CDN) has been deployed to help European footwear retailer Camper significantly improve its global website performance.

The Spain-based retailer, known for its distinctive brand design, has more than 300 stores and 4,000 authorized points of sale in more than 40 different countries, as well as a strong e-commerce business. Critical to the success of its business, www.camper.com is now using the Level 3 CDN to deliver faster page load speeds and online sales processing. These improvements are part of the company’s strategy to increase its global customer base and improve its overall online retail experience.

Since adopting the Level 3 CDN, Camper’s web page load time has improved by approximately 60 percent – resulting in an increased level of online sales of more than 40 percent in some countries, as per Camper statistics. The Level 3 CDN can achieve its web page load time improvements by putting content closer to the user via a globally dispersed network of content servers, supported by 26.8 TBps of capacity.

“We want to give customers in all of the countries in which we operate a seamless online experience,” said Pere Fiol, Head of IT at Camper. “Thanks to the Level 3 CDN, we can now provide that enhanced experience to our customers, which drives repeat visits to our website and thereby increases online sales.”

“Global online retailers such as Camper are faced with an increasingly competitive market where it is harder than ever to maintain customer loyalty,” said Tim Passingham, senior vice president of Enterprise Business for EMEA at Level 3. “Because of this, they need to differentiate by having world-class e-commerce technology in place to improve the online experience, as well as customer retention and conversion rates.”
