Carmen Nava and HACEMOS recognized for excellence in leadership and community service

This month, LATINA Style magazine honors AT&T for excellence in leadership, community service and mentorship. AT&T Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Carmen Nava and the company’s employee group HACEMOS are recognized by the magazine for their contributions in all three areas.
This is the second time this year LATINA Style has recognized AT&T. The magazine named AT&T Company of the Year in August for being an inclusive and desired workplace for Latinas.
LATINA Style named Nava as one of its Top 5 Latina Executives. She is the highest-ranked Latina at AT&T and spends much of her personal time working in the community and serving on the advisory board for HACEMOS. She credits her success to the strong sense of community and leadership she learned at an early age.
“I grew up learning about the importance of hard work and dedication from my parents,” Nava said. “They set an example for me and taught me that community service is a crucial part of being a good leader. AT&T shares these values and HACEMOS provides our employees opportunities to give back to their communities.”
HACEMOS was one of LATINA Style’s Top 5 Employee Resource Groups. The group recently celebrated 25 years of community service and has more than 6,000 members across the U.S. HACEMOS values teamwork and service, from career development to celebrating diversity. Education is especially important. Every year, the group holds a National High Tech Day to show students opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math.
“The HACEMOS motto is ‘Juntos hacemos mas’ which means ‘Together we do more’,’” said Delia Hernández, HACEMOS national president. “HACEMOS has been a platform for our members to showcase their talent and skills which has contributed to their career advancement. High Tech Day provides them an opportunity to pay it forward by sharing that knowledge with the next generation.”
