Software and Networking Leader Will be an Active Participant in Driving SDN Adoption and Development of Standards
OTTAWA and BOSTON – December 3, 2013
BTI Systems, the software and networking leader empowering content and service providers to capitalize on trends in cloud services, mobility and Internet video, today announced that the company has joined the Open Networking Foundation (ONF). A non-profit organization, ONF is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of open Software-Defined Networking (SDN). BTI joins other industry leaders contributing to the continuing and rapid development of SDN industry standards, including the evolution of the OpenFlowTM protocol and the research and development of new standards.
“ONF is the steward of the OpenFlow Standard, the first SDN standard and a vital element of an open Software-Defined network architecture,” said Dan Pitt, Executive Director, Open Networking Foundation. “We continue to work with our more than 120 member companies to solve market needs in practical ways, introducing new standards and working groups with the needs of end users in mind. We are always delighted to welcome new, innovative members who share our passion for this exciting transformation of the networking industry.”
“BTI’s focus on openness, emphasized by the launch of Intelligent Cloud Connect – a category-defining programmable networking platform for cloud infrastructure – underscores our commitment to, and endorsement of, ONF’s mission and goals,” said Julius Francis, Director of SDN/NFV Product Management, BTI Systems. “The benefits of SDN-enabled solutions are critical in highlighting the value proposition of an elastic network layer that responds to the dynamic nature of cloud infrastructure. We look forward to continuing to leverage SDN and OpenFlow to extend elastic network virtualization to the exponentially growing optical bandwidth resources that interconnect cloud data centers in highly-populated metro and regional networks.”
To meet the stringent demands of cloud, content and service providers, earlier this year, BTI introduced Intelligent Cloud Connect. An open, SDN-enabled solution that integrates routing, packet optical and Network Function Virtualization (NFV)-based applications, Intelligent Cloud Connect is architected specifically to address the performance bottlenecks created by rapidly escalating inter-data center network traffic. A software-rich platform, Intelligent Cloud Connect combines network intelligence and application awareness with significantly expanded capacity and scale, delivering four times the capacity, half the latency and up to 10 times application performance with 50 percent OPEX and CAPEX savings.
