Overture and AAPT Bring 80 Mbps Carrier Ethernet over Copper Services to Australia

AAPT reaches significant milestone, deploying its 1000th Overture EoC aggregation platform, and ups speed on Ethernet services for business, enterprise and government clients

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., November 5, 2013 Overture, innovating at the metro edge for service providers and network operators worldwide, today announced Australian telecommunications infrastructure company AAPT is offering expanded 80 Mbps Mid-Band Ethernet availability using Overture’s industry leading Ethernet over Copper (EoC) platforms.  Additionally, APPT announced it had deployed its one-thousandth Overture Ethernet over copper aggregation platform, marking a major milestone in the expansion of its service footprint.

AAPT’s Layer 2 Carrier Ethernet offerings include point-to-point and multipoint E-Line as well as multipoint-to-multipoint E-LAN services. These services also form the foundation of a number of other AAPT products such as cloud computing, SIP, Internet, IP transit and IP-VPN offerings.

“Our Mid-band Ethernet services have been well received by businesses that don’t have a fibre option.  Using Overture’s proven Ethernet over Copper solution, we recently doubled the top speed – up to 80 Mbps – allowing us to deliver even higher symmetric bandwidth to support demanding enterprise cloud and IP voice services,” said AAPT CEO, David Yuile. “Overture’s EoC solutions have allowed us to differentiate our Ethernet services with access to more locations, faster time to service, higher performance and greater reliability. We are on track to reach 267 exchanges with the 80 Mbps service by the end of 2013.”

“AAPT is a true innovator that is leveraging Ethernet over Copper to expand the market opportunity for its services. They have taken full advantage of the advanced features, such as zero-touch provisioning and service assurance to deliver ‘extreme performance’ across all their services and business functions,” said Mike Aquino, CEO, Overture. “We have been working with AAPT for a number of years and it is tremendously rewarding to see them continue to innovate and experience well-deserved success.”

Overture offers a full range of EoC solutions that leverage existing copper infrastructures to increase the market reach for symmetric business services, cloud connectivity, as well as small-cell mobile and broadband backhaul applications.
