Huawei Service Chain Virtualization Innovation Solution Successfully Participated In First EANTC NFV Test

[Frankfurt, Germany, 15 November 15, 2013]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, published at the second SDN & OpenFlow World Congress Huawei service chain virtualization innovation solution successfully participated in the first public multi-vendor test of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) carried out by European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC). The test was in compliance with the ETSI NFV ISG framework standard. Huawei service chain virtualization innovation solution belongs to SoftCOM, the future network architecture of Huawei. EANTC demonstrated the test results at the second SDN & OpenFlow World Congress, and Huawei was invited to make keynote speech on the innovation solution.

NFV (Network Function Virtualization Technology) is to implement network and service functions which previously required dedicated hardware by standard server hardware. NFV has become the technology hot spot of telecommunication and IT, which resolves the conflict between long period of dedicated hardware development and fast service innovation, provides low hardware maintenance cost and opens service innovation capability.

Service Chain technology is used to direct the service packets through a sequence of multiple service nodes, which is the key technology to support virtualization and programming. Using service chain can build virtual network and service network. The service chain has gained major attention of the industry and investment in researching & development.

In the test lab of EANTC, through five days testing, Service Chain successfully passed all test cases related to Service chain programming, NFV portability, NFV resilience, NFV pooling and Service Chain policy.

SoftCOM is the future end-to-end ICT network architecture of Huawei, which is based on cloud computing, SDN, NFV and open network theory, is used to assist telecom operators to face to the new challenges and opportunities in ICT convergence and to create new value opportunity continuously. Faces to the future network evolution goal, Huawei continuously develops end-to-end softCOM architecture. The service chain is the first virtualization innovation solution integrated SDN, NFV and cloud management technologies in industry. The time is only 10 months after NFV concept emergence, Huawei has pushed out innovation technology and passed through EANTC test after only 10 months, which shows Huawei has already stood the front of new technology area in SDN, NFV and cloud management, also fast innovation capability.
