George Granger Named AT&T President For Oregon

AT&T has named George Granger as President of its Oregon External Affairs division.  Granger has worked in the wireless communications industry for 20 years, including five years overseeing external affairs in Oregon and seven other states for Cingular Wireless before it was acquired by AT&T. Most recently, Granger was the Executive Director of External Affairs for AT&T’s East Bay-North Bay Team in California.

“I’m eager to reconnect with friends and colleagues in Oregon,” Granger said. “It’s a great place to live and work and I’m thrilled to assume the role of President in Oregon. AT&T has a long history of making a difference in the lives of our customers through nop-notch products, community engagement and outstanding customer service.”

In recent years, Granger managed External Affairs for AT&T in ten Bay Area counties including Alameda, Santa Clara (Silicon Valley), Monterey, Marin, Napa, and Sonoma.

Prior to AT&T, Granger was Director of External Affairs for Cingular Wireless, the position that first brought him to Oregon. In that role he led the company’s legislative and regulatory work in Oregon, California, Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico, Arizona  and Utah.

Earlier in his career, George worked as an aide to former Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA) and for Bill Lockyer when Lockyer was a member of the California legislature. Lockyer currently is California’s State Treasurer, after serving as California Attorney General as well as President of the California State Senate. For Stark and Lockyer, Granger was responsible for drafting legislation, conducting research on public policy issues, building coalitions, community outreach, and working with federal and state agencies on behalf of constituents.

Granger also served as an elected member of the Castro Valley School Board serving as President in 1998, 2002 and 2009. While on the school board, Granger led three successful campaigns to pass school bonds that generated over $100 million in facility improvements
