Santa Clara, Calif., Nov. 18, 2013 – GENBAND, a leading developer of multimedia and cloud communications solutions, today announced that its Vice President of Technology and Strategy Paul Miller will present the keynote address at the Software Telco Congress, taking place at the Network Meeting Center in Silicon Valley’s Techmart, Nov. 20 thru 21. Mr. Miller’s keynote, “NFV: Embracing the Tenets of cloud and SDN”, which is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 3:50 p.m., will outline how strategies leveraging Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) can effectively assist network operators in transitioning to a virtualized environment.
“The virtualization of network functions is only a preliminary step toward the modernization of today’s telecommunications networks,” said Mr. Miller. “If network operators are to realize the full OPEX, CAPEX and go-to-market potential of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) they must incorporate advanced concepts of cloud and SDN, including elastic scalability, orchestration, dynamic service creation and scalable hardware resources into their network evolution strategies.”
NFV is a recently introduced technology direction that will play a significant role in boosting the pace of the evolution of telecom networks. NFV has been proposed to provide network operators with dramatic reductions in OPEX and CAPEX, as well as enable them to significantly improve time to market for new revenue generating services.
GENBAND, recognizing the competitive constraints imposed by existing networks several years ago, has been steadily evolving its technology toward software-based deployment models – the foundation of NFV. A member of the ETSI NFV Industry Specification Group (ISG), GENBAND is closely involved in the progression of the NFV movement and is committed to evolving its already cloud-ready solutions to NFV in lockstep with customer requirements.
