Alpheus Launches 100GB Ethernet Service for Carriers and Enterprises

Strategic investment adds 100GB services to Alpheus’ regional long-haul and metro networks in Texas

HOUSTON – Nov. 12, 2013 Alpheus Communications, a leading provider of Texas metro-regional fiber and networking solutions, has launched 100GB service to meet customers’ growing needs to more efficiently deliver data on higher-bandwidth circuits between and within Texas’ major metropolitan areas, including Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.

Demand for 100GB service is driven by the need for larger backbone network capacity to support ever-increasing mobile data traffic and data-intensive enterprises, especially those in healthcare, oil and gas, and financial industries, that analyze, process and transport very high data loads as part of their everyday operations.

“Alpheus recognized our customers’ need for higher bandwidth, and as we have done with previous infrastructure enhancements, we committed considerable capital to keep our network ahead of the curve for services at the next level of bandwidth,” said Francisco Maella, chief operating officer of Alpheus Communications. “Just as there was a rapid migration from 1GB to 10GB services, we believe that carriers and enterprises will soon jump from 10GB to 100GB services as big data and other business realities drive higher-bandwidth requirements. Alpheus can deliver 100GB services to carriers and enterprise customers quickly and without complexity.”

Managed Wavelength solutions from Alpheus help carriers and large businesses easily aggregate network traffic without spending the capital required to build, light and manage their own fiber networks. With Alpheus, companies can maintain the freedom to run all the multiple applications required for their business operations while Alpheus manages the network and scales the bandwidth to what is needed.  Managed Wavelength services provide:

  • Efficiency: Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology enables maximum bandwidth for the lowest cost.
  • Flexibility: Managed Waves service supports all major networking protocols (ATM, Frame Relay, SONET, Ethernet and IP) and interfaces with SONET or Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Scalability: Move easily between bandwidth options from 1 to 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps.
  • Security: Choose between protected, unprotected, or load-sharing (physically diverse) configurations.
