GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. — US Signal, an industry-leading network and infrastructure provider, underwent an intensive HIPAA Security Compliance Assessment conducted by Michigan-based Health Care Management Inc. The rigorous process is an accurate and thorough analysis of an organization’s current HIPAA compliance status. It included extensive employee interviews, document collection and evaluation, IT infrastructure inspection, and workflow analysis to assess and test US Signal’s existing security protocols as they relate to the HIPAA regulations.
Upon completion, Health Care Management produced a gap analysis and recommendation document that included industry best practices for HIPAA compliance. This document took into account one hundred twenty eight separate security controls stipulated by HIPAA under the GRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) sections of the law. As a result, Health Care Management found that US Signal’s security environment aligned completely with the HIPAA Privacy and Security model and accredited US Signal as a HIPAA compliant organization.
“US Signal not only offers cloud solutions that support HIPAA compliance, but took the extra step of having the entire organization become HIPAA compliant,” said Casey Bohannon, Director of Network Operations. “We can relate directly to any organizational practice dealing with HIPAA compliance because we are measured under the same controls as they are. As a result, we understand their security needs at an institutional level. Very few providers can make this claim.”
US Signal realizes HIPAA compliance is not a one-time event. With increased governmental regulation and constantly evolving technologies it is imperative that US Signal continues to adopt security protocols to maintain its HIPAA compliance.
