MOSCOW – October 7, 2013 – Cisco today announced that Interregional Distributive Grid Company of Siberia, one of the largest electric grids in Russia, has completed a project of building a videoconferencing system capable of connecting up to 50 branches in Siberia and linking them to a parent holding company. The project has been implemented by Galex Scientific and Technical Center, a Cisco® Premier Certified Partner in Russia.
The competed project enables real-time conferences and meetings between Interregional Distributive Grid Company of Siberia and its partners in the territories of Altai, Buryatia, Tyva, and Khakassia republics; Altai, Transbaikal, and Krasnoyarsk regions; as well as Kemerovo and Omsk areas. Apart from one-to-one video communications, the new system supports centralized conferencing and multimedia sharing during negotiations, which enhances speed and efficiency of interactions between employees.
At the customer’s headquarters, an end-to-end videoconferencing system, a server group based on Cisco TelePresence® MSE 8000 Series and Cisco TelePresence Video Communication Server (VCS) was rolled up and integrated with the existing enterprise-wide communications system. Cisco C60 and Cisco C40 user sets, as well as integrated conferencing systems and audio systems, were deployed in conference halls.
The following functions and features have been implemented:
• Point-to-point calls between subscribers of the system
• Integration of hybrid multipoint conferences in mixed Cisco TelePresence and Microsoft Lync environment
• Common address space for all video subscribers
• Use of all available tools to visually demonstrate reference materials
Deployment of the videoconferencing system will make Distributive Grid Company of Siberia more dynamic and flexible, boosting performance, radically accelerating decision-making processes, and supplying decision-makers with higher-quality data.
