Level 3 Unveils “Voice Complete” Solution

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced the launch of its Level 3 Voice Complete solution, a new SIP-based (session initiation protocol) platform that removes several key barriers enterprises face in their efforts to streamline voice networks and create a pathway to emerging unified communications applications. The Voice Complete platform enables enterprises to securely connect more sites with greater operating and cost efficiency, incorporating a fully native PRI (primary rate interface)-handoff capability and other new performance-enhancing features.

“The opportunity to simplify the management of their voice network and achieve greater efficiencies are driving enterprises to adopt SIP-based voice services,” stated Cindy Whelan, Principal Analyst at Current Analysis. “Level 3’s Voice Complete solutions offer enterprises a flexible and cost-effective migration path to an all-SIP platform, which is now further enhanced by a unique combination of features such as geographic independent telephone numbers and the ability to connect to legacy equipment without an upgrade requirement.”

Level 3’s Voice Complete solution offers a comprehensive portfolio of enterprise voice capabilities powered by SIP that achieve higher overall efficiency and savings when compared to existing service offerings by including built-in options for disaster recovery, emergency 911 and the ability to connect legacy TDM office sites more easily without  the need for equipment upgrades. All features are available via the MyLevel3 customer portal and include:

  • A fully native PRI-handoff option, allowing customers to receive a SIP handoff directly to a TDM (time division multiplexing) private branch exchange (PBX) without the need to purchase or configure additional equipment.
  • Geographically independent telephone numbers, simplifying the management of telephone numbers across mobile workforces and providing virtual presence.
  • A combination of dedicated long distance and local services, SIP services and ISDN-PRI (integrated services digital network) services.

“Regardless of existing architecture, Level 3 is well positioned to enable customers to take advantage of the next-generation benefits of SIP,” said Shaun Andrews, Level 3’s senior vice president of Voice Services. “Level 3 Voice Complete helps enterprises capitalize on more efficient technology, improve reliability and ultimately reduce operational complexity so they can focus on the growth of their core business.”
