DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. Executive Appointed To Open-IX Standards Committee

Company Release – 10/07/2013 16:15

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. (NYSE:DFT, news, filings), today announced that its Director of Carrier Relations, Vinay Nagpal has been appointed by the Open-IX Association to serve on the Data Center / MMR (Meet-Me-Room) Standards Committee of the Open-IX Association.  The Open-IX Association is a non-profit industry association recently formed to promote better standards for Interconnection and Internet Exchanges in North America.

Vinay Nagpal will represent DFT in Open-IX Association’s effort to establish technical standards for Data Centers and Meet-Me-Rooms. Mr. Nagpal’s experience spans almost 20 years in telecommunications and connectivity in the wholesale and retail colocation industry in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. He has been instrumental in growing the Company’s fiber carriers, managing telecommunications infrastructure and supporting its customers’ connectivity requirements.

“Building on our carrier-neutral and network-agnostic approach, we strongly support the Open-IX Association and believe it will enable competitiveness and help reduce Interconnection and Peering complexities and costs in North America,” said Mr. Nagpal.  “It will provide much-needed options for distributed Internet Exchanges to the Internet community.  I am honored to be selected by the Open-IX board to serve on the Data Center/MMR Standards Committee and look forward to helping to facilitate the deployment of neutral Internet Exchanges in North America.”

Martin Hannigan, co-founder and Treasurer of Open IX Association added: “We are extremely pleased with the early support from DuPont Fabros Technology, Inc. and Vinay Nagpal to the Open-IX Association.  Vinay’s data center and connectivity expertise will contribute in defining the Data Center and MMR Standards for Open-IX Association.”

DFT intends to pursue certification by the Open-IX Association and, if certified, plans to host Open-IX endorsed Internet Exchange in each of its four U.S. data center markets, which will enable the Company’s customers to directly connect to an Internet Exchange inside the Company’s data centers.

Open-IX Association serves as a self-regulatory body of owners, operators, users and those concerned with Internet Exchanges in North America.  Open-IX intends to encourage the development of neutral and distributed Internet Exchanges in North America in a model similar to Europe and promote uniform cost-efficient standards for physical interconnections backed by the internet community.
