ADTRAN Demonstrates System-Level Vectoring at BBWF

Industry’s first sealed DSLAMs providing field-deployable system-level vectoring

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 23, 2013– ADTRAN®, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced the addition of system-level vectoring (SLV) to its sealed VDSL2 DSLAM portfolio. Being demonstrated at Broadband World Forum in Amsterdam this week, this solution offers service providers the performance and scalability of traditional chassis-based SLV solutions, but with the economics and minimal footprint of ADTRAN’s industry-leading sealed DSLAM solutions. The solution is available today for service providers looking to capitalize on existing infrastructure while managing the transformation to an all-fiber network. Leveraging both board-level and system-level VDSL2 vectoring, service providers can maximize their network infrastructure to support hundreds of subscribers, across larger neighborhoods, with 100+Mbps VoIP and IPTV residential services and 800Mbps business Ethernet services.

“With ADTRAN’s comprehensive vectoring capabilities, service providers now have a complete fixed broadband access toolbox that allows them to offer one of the world’s most expansive portfolios of deep fiber solutions,” said Stephen Wilson, senior analyst from Analysys Mason. “The addition of system-vectoring to the sealed DSLAM portfolio will enable service providers to further accelerate their delivery of ultra broadband services to customers around the world.”

With an embedded base of more than 100,000 multi-service access nodes (MSANs) and 100,000 small form-factor DSLAM sites, as well as a number two global VDSL2 market share position, ADTRAN is uniquely positioned to help service providers accelerate the delivery of ultra-broadband services around the world. Faced with the challenge to deliver ubiquitous 100Mbps residential services and cloud connectivity for enterprises, service providers are looking for a full range of aggregation and gateway solutions in order to deliver SLA-based, Ethernet services over their existing infrastructure. ADTRAN’s vectoring solutions offer granular investment, improved performance, lower power consumption, and resiliency across the network. With the addition of system-level vectoring to the sealed DSLAM portfolio, carriers can now achieve affordable and competitive 100Mbps broadband service delivery at the lower-density sites as well as the higher-density locations.

“As the march towards ubiquitous 100Mbps service delivery intensifies, service providers around the world are requiring greater scalability and operational flexibility to meet the growing bandwidth demand while at the same time limiting their cost exposure,” said Robert Conger, director of product management for ADTRAN’s carrier networks division. “Building on ADTRAN’s history as the industry leader in sealed DSLAM solutions, the integration of SLV in the sealed DSLAM’s provides operators with the most flexible vectoring solution set in the industry.”
