Zayo Group Expands Fiber Network in Southeast U.S.

BOULDER, Colo. – September 18, 2013 – Zayo Group, an international provider of Bandwidth Infrastructure services, today announced expansion of its fiber network by more than 2,500 route miles in the southeast region of the U.S. The new routes will extend Zayo’s long-haul connectivity into Richmond, Va., Raleigh, N.C., Tampa, Fla., and Orlando, Fla. As a part of this expansion, Zayo will also be able to provide diverse connectivity into the existing metro market of Miami.

This latest expansion builds on Zayo’s existing footprint in the region and will enable customers in new markets to access Zayo’s suite of high-bandwidth services, including wavelengths, Ethernet, IP and SONET. Key manufacturing, oil andgas, and financial customers in the region will now have access to Zayo’s broader fiber network, which now spans 76,800 route miles connecting approximately 300 markets throughout the U.S. and Europe.  In addition to serving new enterprise customers, the expansion provides connectivity for carrier solutions, including access to important interconnection points for traffic with Latin America.

“We’ve been looking for opportunities to grow our network in the region,” says Matt Erickson, President of Fiber, Transport and Infrastructure for Zayo. “Our expanded coverage in the southeast opens the door for new and existing customers in this economically important region as well as improves our capability to serve as a Bandwidth Infrastructure gateway to Latin America.”
