Red Pocket Mobile Launches National Point-of-Presence in Telx’s New Jersey Data Center

Leading No-Contract Wireless Company Partners with Telx

New York, NY (September 05, 2013)Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud enablement services and 100% Uptime SLA data centers, today announced that Red Pocket Mobile, a leading American no-contract wireless service provider, will establish a new point-of-presence (POP) at Telx’s NJR2 facility located at 100 Delawanna Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey.

“Red Pocket Mobile offers reliable contract-free service on the best wireless networks in America,” said Joshua Gordon, president of Red Pocket Mobile. “Telx’s NJR2 facility in Clifton, New Jersey provides us with best-in-class technology infrastructure to help support our rapidly-growing contract-free wireless customer base.”

According to Gordon, Americans are shifting their wireless habits and are beginning to look more like consumers in other parts of the world who have been long accustomed to prepaying for their wireless service. Of the mobile phones purchased last year, 27% were prepaid, according to market research firm NPD Group, a growth of 8% from a year earlier.

“Telx is pleased to welcome Red Pocket Mobile to our 100 Delawanna campus. Its addition as a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, also known as an MVNO, further expands our mobile ecosystem,” said Anthony Rossabi, SVP of service provider markets for Telx. “Red Pocket’s contract-free wireless options are part of an emerging trend in the wireless market in the US that is proving to be tremendously beneficial to wireless consumers everywhere. Telx is proud to partner with Red Pocket in hosting its new East Coast point-of-presence.”

Select outcomes include:

  • Lower Network Costs - Red Pocket’s access to dozens of service providers through Telx’s expansive ecosystem, establishes Red Pocket as ‘On Net’ to carriers and eliminates local loop costs.
  • Buying Power – Telx’s ecosystem empowers Red Pocket to gain access to more competitive pricing from vendors.
  • Access to Hundreds of Companies via Telx Marketplace - Red Pocket’s inclusion in Telx Marketplace enables the company to facilitate commerce and foster the development of new business relationships across a variety of industry sectors.

NJR2, located on Telx’s Clifton New Jersey campus at 100 Delawanna Avenue, is one of the most network rich, interconnected colocation centers in the New York City metro area. Located just 11-miles outside of Manhattan, this 30,000 square foot data center is an ideal location for any business looking to run low-latency back office operations or for enterprises seeking a lower cost location outside of New York City to host business continuity/disaster recovery, storage back-up or other networking applications.
