Lightpath Expansive Network Now Connects 6,000 Fiber-Lit Locations

One of the largest metro area fiber deployments in the United States expands to deliver powerful communication and cloud-based services to more mid-market businesses.

JERICHO, NY, September 12, 2013 – Lightpath®, a market leader in Ethernet-based communication solutions for New York metropolitan area businesses, today announced its 100 percent fiber network that serves medium and large market businesses now connects 6,000 locations. The network, which now spans 5,442 fiber route miles, has more than doubled in size in just six years, delivering an expanding portfolio of Internet, voice, data, video and managed services to customers across a broad range of industries.

“Lightpath is focused squarely on increasing our engagement with more customers to understand how we can help them advance with reliable, flexible and cost-effective services,” said Dave Pistacchio, President, Lightpath. “An important part of serving customers the best we can is ensuring that our network goes where they need it to. Every location we light connects more businesses to cutting edge managed services, world-class data centers, partner organizations and more, all supported by speeds that clear the way to take advantage of new opportunities at every turn.”

As businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, government organizations and media companies look to their telecommunications services to overcome challenges and meet new demands, the Lightpath network continues to grow to support them. The latest network milestone for Lightpath follows the rapid expansion of the company’s product portfolio. In the past eighteen months, the company has rolled out Conference Bundle, Managed WiFi, Managed Backup, Uncompressed HD Managed Transport and Private Service, while debuting tailored services suites for healthcare and government. The result is the ability to meet the needs of any mid and large market business through the New York metro area.

“Lightpath continues to benefit from extending its expansive fiber network to office buildings in and around the greater New York City metro area,” said Brian Washburn, Service Director, Business Network and IT Services, Current Analysis.  “As Lightpath rounds the 6,000 lit locations milestone, the company is increasingly bringing the high-bandwidth and competitive pricing benefits of fiber to more mid-market businesses and multi-tenant buildings, including at the lower end of the market.”
