Frontier Communications Employees in Pennsylvania Ratify Labor Contracts

DALLAS, Pa.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) has received two contract ratifications with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Locals representing approximately 200 Frontier employees in Pennsylvania.

CWA-represented employees in Frontier’s Pennsylvania operations ratified one agreement on August 8, 2013 and another on August 19, 2013. The company and union bargaining committees worked together to address issues that were priorities for both parties: the intense competition in the telecommunications business, the challenging economic times, and the importance of hiring and retaining the best employees with competitive wages and benefits.

The Pennsylvania CWA Locals — 13570, 13571, 13572 and 13573 — represent technicians who serve customers throughout Eastern Pennsylvania and employees in the company’s greater Wilkes-Barre work-at-home Call Center team who serve Frontier customers nationwide. The ratified contracts expire in November 2016 and will help Frontier remain competitive and enhance customer service while continuing to provide solid wages and benefits to its Pennsylvania union employees.

Paul Quick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Frontier’s Pennsylvania operations added, “Facing a tough economic and increasingly competitive business environment, the CWA and Frontier worked cooperatively to reach their respective objectives. The leadership of the CWA Locals partnered with Frontier’s team to promote shared success, securing ratification of the contracts on the first vote. Everyone recognized that we are all in this together, and the ratification is a ‘win-win’ outcome for our employees, our customers and our future.”

Both Frontier and the CWA leaders collaborated on many operational and economic issues, noted Quick, but the most important common goal for everyone was putting the customer first. Citing a true team effort with CWA and Frontier each providing some give and take, Quick said the teams stayed focused on customer impact, first and foremost. “I am proud of all our employees who place the customer paramount in all they do to deliver the highest quality, reliable communications services throughout Eastern Pennsylvania as well as across the country,” said Quick.
