The arrangement combines PowerTel’s dark fibre assets and Epsilon’s service capabilities to deliver last mile connectivity across Jakarta
Singapore – September 24, 2013 – Epsilon, a privately owned global communications service provider and PT Power Telecom (PowerTel), a leading provider of dark fibre infrastructure in Indonesia, have partnered to give international network operators local fibre access within the Jakarta metro area. The companies will offer fibre connectivity to Jakarta’s largest data centres Cyber One, Cyber CXJ and expanding to other major facilities in coming months.
Epsilon has two nodes live connecting Indonesia to Singapore giving its 500+ pre-connected network operators direct access to the Indonesian market. International network operators will be able to use Epsilon’s metro fibre footprint in Jakarta for local access to commercial buildings and data centres sites in Jakarta.
Epsilon provides:
• A selection and diversity of colocation and connectivity for its customers in Jakarta to build or extend their businesses
• Protected links between major Data Centres in Jakarta
• Multiple points of entrance for local partners to connect to Epsilon’s global network exchange
• A virtual Meet-Me-Room across major Data Centres in Jakarta
“The partnership with PowerTel uses the strengths of both companies to offer customers unique access to the Indonesian market. PowerTel is known for maintaining a deep fibre network in Indonesia and we could see that both companies would benefit from working together,” says Andreas Hipp, CEO at Epsilon.
PowerTel will use the agreement to serve local enterprises and service providers with lit fibre capacity. It has access to Epsilon’s Global Network Exchange allowing it to connect its customers to more 170 countries around the world.
“This is a very positive agreement for both companies. PowerTel can be capex efficient while moving up the value chain by utilising Epsilon’s expertise in operating network infrastructure and Epsilon can offer its customers high-quality access to Indonesian infrastructure,” says Dicky Tjokrosaputro as President Directo at PowerTel. “Demand in the local telecoms market is growing with the Indonesian economy showing more than 7% growth annually. More economic development means more demand for connectivity and with deals like this we’re ready to serve it.”
