SANTA MONICA, CA – September 26, 2013 – EdgeCast Networks today announced two new executive appointments and the opening of a London office to serve its growing global customer base.
Following on its recent $54 million financing, EdgeCast has graduated from a start-up to a market leader in the web infrastructure space. The next steps in the company’s growth are to ensure financial transparency, operational scale, and continued global sales growth. To help achieve those objectives, the company recruited and hired John Powers – who formerly served as the top finance executive at eHarmony.com – as its new CFO. Mike Kleiman, EdgeCast’s longtime chief financial officer, was named the company’s COO.
Additionally, EdgeCast announced that Phil Goldsmith, the company’s co-founder and chief revenue officer, has relocated to London to launch and manage the company’s new European office. The European office will include sales professionals as well as local engineering support dedicated to EMEA customers. Goldsmith will continue to run EdgeCast’s global sales organization and spend substantial time at the company’s Santa Monica headquarters.

Powers joins EdgeCast after serving for more than eight years in the top finance role at eHarmony.com. He has more than 15 years of financial leadership experience, including – prior to eHarmony – as CFO of Marketwire, a leading corporate communications company. His responsibilities will include building and staffing a world-class finance and accounting team.
Kleiman joined EdgeCast as CFO in 2008 and had worked with the EdgeCast founding team in several prior ventures. He has been instrumental in helping manage the company’s financial and operational growth over the past five years. His prior experience includes extensive financial and leadership experience from the web hosting and Internet infrastructure space, including senior management roles at companies including HostPro and SolutionPro. Mike will be responsible for all operational and network expansion of EdgeCast’s global network.
Goldsmith was responsible for global sales for two successful startups before co-founding EdgeCast. Phil has grown the EdgeCast sales team to scale in North America, and now with the support of strong sales leadership here in the U.S., he will be replicating that successful formula in the European market.
As lead for EdgeCast’s London office, Goldsmith will oversee the growth of the company’s EMEA sales team, enhancing the company’s EMEA sales engineering group and servicing the many EdgeCast customers located in EMEA.
