Digital Planet accelerates growth with Interxion and launches its 2nd Enterprise Cloud Hub

Strong customer demand drives the expansion of Cloud capacity

Dublin, 5th September, 2013Digital Planet, one of Ireland’s fastest growing providers of Enterprise Cloud Solutions today launches its second Cloud Platform which is located at Interxion’s data centre in Parkwest, Dublin. Interxion is a leading provider of cloud and carrier-neutral colocation data centre services in Europe and their facility will cater for over 500 managed Virtual Machines (VMs) and up to two petabytes of storage capacity.
“This partnership with Interxion provides us with a second hub that will offer next generation, scalable, reliable and secure technology to the Digital Planet client-base, facilitating anytime, anywhere Enterprise cloud solutions in response to market requirements”, states Brian Larkin, Operations Director, Digital Planet.
“In order to meet demand for our suite of CloudStore™ products and Enterprise Cloud services, we invested in this second hub 12 months ahead of forecast. We are an Enterprise Cloud provider with a consultative led business approach, which is proving very popular with medium to large enterprise users. All our Data Stores are located in Ireland which gives us a competitive advantage when it comes to Data Protection. Our consultants and all the 24×7 support team are also located in Ireland which allows us to develop a strong client relationship, with close proximity to support our customer base”, commented Mr Larkin.

Tanya Duncan, Managing Director of Interxion Ireland added: “We are delighted that Digital Planet has chosen to further expand its Cloud Hub presence at our Dublin campus. With enterprises migrating more and more of their workloads to centrally managed cloud computing platforms, the dependency on the underlying data centre, compute and network infrastructure increases. Interxion continues to enable Service Providers, such as Digital Planet, to deliver Enterprise based solutions to the Irish and UK markets, by providing reliable, scalable and well-connected data centre services. This expansion is a major vote of confidence in Interxion, which highlights our position as a best-in-class supplier of data centre services to the rapidly expanding Enterprise Cloud service provider segment.”

This is the second cloud hub launched by Digital Planet, the first being launched in 2010. That hub was expected to meet requirements until Q2 2014 but faster than expected growth has led to this expansion earlier than had been expected. “We have a top- class team at Digital Planet, a highly qualified and motivated group of professionals”, noted Mr Larkin “We have built an excellent Cloud solution, Private, Managed and Public Cloud to meet all client requirements. At current predictions, we anticipate trebling the size of our team from 20 to approximately 60 staff”.
