City of Pasadena Builds Advanced Communications Network with MRV

CHATSWORTH, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–MRV Communications™, Inc. (OTCQB:MRVC) (“MRV®”), a leading global provider of innovative packet and optical solutions, today announced that the City of Pasadena selected MRV’s FiberDriver® optical transport solution to provide high-capacity optical services for its mission-critical municipal network. The city’s new network will be used to link city facilities using future-proof, high bandwidth services over a fully-owned fiber infrastructure.

When the city relocated its data center to a new facility, it took advantage of the opportunity to upgrade its existing fiber ring and added a Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system from MRV Communications to create a resilient network capable of delivering more than 80 wavelengths, each offering up to 10Gbps. The MRV optical equipment consumes very low power and occupies a small footprint, minimizing real estate requirements at the new data center and reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
