AT&T Named “America’s Best for Home Internet Service Provider”

Women’s Choice Award involves feedback from tens of thousands of consumers

Dallas, Texas, September 24, 2013

Feedback involving tens of thousands of consumers has led to AT&T being named “America’s Best For Home Internet Service Provider” by WomenCertified®, Inc. As a result, AT&T is the latest winner of the Women’s Choice Award®.

“WomenCertified works to raise awareness among consumers about which brands are most recommended by women and to honor those brands,” said Delia Passi, WomenCertified CEO. “By carrying the Women’s Choice Award seal, companies signify their commitment to empower women to make smart buying choices.”

AT&T recently announced Internet speed upgrades of up to 45 Mbps in 17 states in its service area. It also plans to continue increasing speeds and expand availability of its U-verse offerings as part of a three-year, multi-billion-dollar investment plan called Project Velocity IP (VIP). That plan includes expanding availability to about 57 million customer locations in AT&T’s wireline service area by year-end 2015, and increasing U-verse Internet speeds to up to 100 Mbps in the future.

Lori Lee, senior executive vice president-AT&T Home Solutions, said, “Day-in and day-out, our employees work hard to take care of customers, to fill their needs, to solve their problems. We feel strongly that our U-verse High Speed Internet service is a superior product. It’s gratifying to see outside confirmation of this through the Women’s Choice Award.” AT&T Home Solutions is the business unit that provides the company’s suite of U-verse® offerings, including Internet and award-winning TV service.

Recommendations Equal Loyalty

Ms. Passi said it’s important to note that the award doesn’t just signify that the brand or service has women’s favor – it signifies that women are willing to recommend it to others. “When a woman is willing to recommend a brand or service to others, it means that business has earned her loyalty. Those are the businesses we wish to recognize for their efforts and commitment to the No. 1 consumer – women,” she said.

“AT&T Home Solutions are built around offering a total package to customers: speed, reliability, mobility and service,” Ms. Lee said. “We’ve learned that consumers consider broadband to be the most important of all electronic home services.”

WomenCertified awards businesses and brands based on consumer experience and their inclination to recommend the brand, product or service. Businesses and brands that are the most recommended by women are awarded the “America’s Best” in their category and are eligible to carry the Women’s Choice Award seal.

Awards are based on surveys of tens of thousands of women as well as on research conducted with the Wharton School of Business. This research, which focuses on factors that drive the consumer experience for women, led to development of the Female Customer Satisfaction Index.
