U.S. Department Of Housing And Urban Development (HUD) Awards AT&T With Contract To Provide Managed VPN Services And MTIPS Secure Internet Access Nationwide

OAKTON, Va., Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded a contract, with a value of up to $31 million, to AT&T’s Federal Government unit to provide managed virtual private network (VPN) services to 93 HUD sites nationwide. Additionally, AT&T will provide HUD with Managed Trusted Internet Protocol Service (MTIPS) enabling the agency to connect securely to the public Internet.

Awarded via the Networx procurement vehicle, the contract is an important step in HUD’s network modernization effort and reflects a transition the agency is making away from a frame relay network toward managed VPN as a means of supporting HUD employees and operations nationwide.

“AT&T looks forward to supporting the Department of Housing and Urban Development by delivering a proven solution that enables the agency to communicate quickly, reliably and efficiently, both in terms of internal operations and in its ongoing, external mission to serve citizens,” said Kay Kapoor, President, AT&T’s Federal Government business unit.
