Huawei Promotes WebRTC–RCS Integration Opportunities

[Shenzhen, China, Aug 2nd, 2013]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, showcased its Web Real-Time Communication (WebRTC) demo at the GSMA Mobile Asia Expo 2013 in Shanghai. This demo, illustrated in a car insurance scenario, was designed to seamlessly integrate WebRTC technology with Rich Communication Services (RCS) capabilities such as instant messaging, file transfer, location sharing and video sharing, in a business-to-business scenario. Huawei’s demonstration highlighted how WebRTC technology can add value to and extend mobile operators’ RCS services.

In April 2013, Huawei unveiled the industry’s first exposure gateway for WebRTC-based RCS capabilities. Leading telecom operators from around the world have since expressed interest in working with Huawei to develop a WebRTC solution, which enables operators to interconnect telecommunication and Internet communication services. The GSMA is committed to fostering and promoting RCS services, such as joyn, among global telecom operators. Extending the reach of these services into the web domain and also enabling Internet service providers to underpin and extend their communication services with carrier-grade telecommunication services is a promising value-add for users of such services.

Huawei will continue to work closely with the GSMA and telecom operators from around the world to foster an ICT environment where WebRTC technology can expand telecoms capabilities.
