AT&T Named Best Company Workplace for Latinas

LATINA Style magazine honors AT&T as “Company of the Year” for second time

Dallas, Texas, August 20, 2013

Hispanic women looking for a great place to work, learn, grow and lead will find a wide range of opportunities at AT&T, according to LATINA Style.  The magazine selected AT&T as its Company of the Year for 2013 from among more than 800 companies evaluated, making AT&T the first company to win the award twice.  AT&T also topped the LATINA Style 50 list in 2008.

“At AT&T, we’ve long known that to win in the marketplace, and be the kind of company where people love to work, we must be best in class at diversity across our workforce and have a culture that’s truly inclusive,” said Debbie Storey, Senior Vice President, Talent Development & Chief Diversity Officer, AT&T.  “Our customers, our suppliers and our investors come from all walks of life – and we serve them best when our workforce and on our leadership team relate to their diversity and connect with them where they are. This recognition from LATINA Style is evidence we’re doing this well, and gives Latinas considering a career at a great company a compelling reason to consider AT&T.”

The LATINA Style 50 will be featured in the August issue of the magazine, and recognized in February at the LATINA Style 50 Awards Ceremony and Diversity Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

AT&T will be profiled in the August issue, which also will include a column by AT&T’s Carmen Nava, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience, in which she attributes her own success to the company’s inclusive culture.

“You can find Latinas across many parts of AT&T,” said Nava.  “From sales and marketing to our technology labs, from operations to finance, Latinas are actively engaged in leadership roles across the business.”

AT&T integrates diversity into its business practices, including asking our supply chain group to consider spending 21.5 percent of the total 2012 budget with certified diverse organizations. In 2012, the company spent over $12.8 billion with diverse organizations. Diversity at AT&T is eagerly supported by employees, with membership in employee resource groups such as HACEMOS (the Hispanic/Latino employee organization), Women of AT&T, and AT&T Veterans recently surging from 14,000 to 60,000. In addition, AT&T’s workforce is 38 percent female and 39 percent from people of color – both above industry averages.
