Virgin Mobile USA Announces Lineup for 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest presented by Samsung on Wall of Homeless Youth Shelter

On Saturday, September 21 Vampire Weekend, The Avett Brothers, Pretty Lights, Robin Thicke, MGMT, Kaskade and a dozen more will play the largest annual free music event in the country

Tickets go “On Free” to public Friday, August 9th

WASHINGTON (BUSINESS WIRE), July 29, 2013 – Today, with typically unique and unusual fanfare, the lineup for the 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest presented by Samsung was revealed on a wall mural at The Sasha Bruce RE*Generation House homeless youth shelter in Washington, D.C., the primary beneficiary of this year’s proceeds. To view the video reveal, click here. The Billboard award-winning festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. For the fifth year in a row, Virgin Mobile will “Let Free Ring” by giving free tickets to tens of thousands of lucky music fans.

Known for the inventive, unexpected experience and unforgettable performances, FreeFest will feature some of the most talked about, most appreciated and most eclectic artists – filling two Main Stages and the Dance Forest.

Virgin Mobile FreeFest will feature on the Main Stages: Vampire Weekend, The Avett Brothers, Pretty Lights, Robin Thicke, MGMT, Kaskade, City and Colour, Icona Pop, CHVRCHES, The Knocks, Black Joe Lewis, Sky Ferreira and Little Green Cars. The Dance Forest will feature Madeon, Gareth Emery, Washed Out, Manufactured Superstars, Conogorock, TJR and Ghost Beach.

Thanks to the generosity of fans over the last four years, the festival has raised enough money to build The Sasha Bruce Re*Generation House by Virgin Mobile, which is a transitional home for homeless youth in Washington, D.C. This year’s contributions will go to running and maintaining the house for years to come.

“The Sasha Bruce RE*Generation House is a monument that reflects all the tireless volunteer hours and dollars our fans have spent to support youth homelessness,” said Ron Faris, head of Brand Marketing, Virgin Mobile USA. “What better way to celebrate this commitment than to ink the line-up on its 25-foot walls? This is a proud day for us. This is the house that FreeFest built.”

How to get tickets to FreeFest

Tickets to the 2013 Virgin Mobile FreeFest go “On Free” to the public at noon (EDT) Friday, August 9th via ticketfly.com. Virgin Mobile customers, prior Virgin Mobile Festival ticket buyers, and Virgin Mobile Facebook friends and Twitter followers will get special notification of the presale, which will be held at noon (EDT) Thursday, August 8th.
