WESTFORD, Mass. – Sonus Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:SONS, news, filings), a global leader in SIP communications, today announced that its session border controllers (SBCs) are being integrated into Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs) globally, as part of Microsoft Lync Unified Communications (UC) demonstrations. This integration allows enterprises to experience first-hand the powerful combination of Sonus SBCs in a Lync Enterprise deployment.
The MTCs are highly collaborative, world-class facilities that offer businesses access to cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading expertise. The new Toronto MTC is the first to feature Sonus SBCs with the addition of the Sonus SBC 1000. Based in Microsoft Canada’s Mississauga headquarters, the Toronto MTC is the 31st in the world, in addition to the 12 centers in the United States and 18 other international locations.
SBCs serve a critical role in enabling and activating UC platforms, such as Microsoft Lync, across enterprise Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) networks. As a Microsoft Gold Communications Partner, Sonus helps enterprises optimize Microsoft Lync voice deployments by securing SIP trunking services at the network border and providing a seamless flow of SIP-based multi-vendor media for UC deployments. Secure, resilient access to UC applications such as instant messaging (IM), collaboration, conferencing and voice empowers enterprises to communicate with speed and simplicity. The SBC 1000 and the Sonus SBC 2000 SBCs are the only SBC solutions available which offer Microsoft Lync survivability either through a 3G/4G or PSTN connection to provide reliability in the event of a wide area network (WAN) failure.
