new interxion whitepaper outlines it challenges and solutions for ctos in the mobile community

Research reveals commercial drivers, connectivity requirements, and hosting strategies for mobile-centric businesses 

AMSTERDAM, the Netherlands – July 9th  , 2013:  INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral colocation data center services, today published a whitepaper, “IT Challenges in the Mobile Community,” which explores the IT challenges of delivering real-time mobile services and examines IT deployment strategies to address these challenges.

The whitepaper is based on qualitative research that Interxion and FirstPartner conducted with service providers and network operators to examine the impact that IT infrastructure deployment decisions have on businesses’ mobile service delivery. The whitepaper draws from this research to conclude that mobile service providers will gain significant value as they grow by utilizing a combination of private infrastructure and public cloud services – a hybrid approach.

“The rapid growth of mobile channels and increasing complexity in the mobile service delivery community introduces a new set of factors for CTOs to consider when deploying IT infrastructure,” said Mike Hollands, Director, Connectivity Segment, Interxion and co-author of the whitepaper. “Now, CTOs are tasked with delivering real-time performance of mobile services, as well as international reach, without compromising service quality, compliance or security.”

The whitepaper outlines various strategies to address these challenges.  It finds the use of public cloud services are especially important for new organisations, but that as they mature hybrid cloud solutions or colocation services become more appropriate. Regardless of the IT infrastructure sourcing model chosen, connectivity between mobile service providers and content providers is identified as critical. As a result, placing IT infrastructure in well-connected data centres is a key success factor.
