Pleasanton, Calif., July 16, 2013 – MegaPath Corporation, a leading provider of managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, today announced the availability of new Business Ethernet services that provide companies with a true business-class alternative to cable services. The new Ethernet services are immediately available in 517 Central Offices (COs) with speeds up to 50X10 Mbps, with availability in 700 COs and speeds up to 150X10 Mbps targeted by year end.
While similar to cable by delivering low-cost, asymmetrical bandwidth, MegaPath’s new Ethernet services offer several key advantages over cable including business-class service level agreements (SLAs), dedicated versus shared bandwidth, a business-class platform engineered for Quality of Service (QoS) to support performance-critical applications like voice and video, nationwide availability, and a more reliable site prequalification methodology.
“The addition of asymmetrical speeds to MegaPath’s expansive nationwide Ethernet service portfolio will give SMBs, distributed enterprises and MegaPath’s wholesale partners affordable business-class bandwidth alternatives backed by business-class service level agreements,” said Brian Washburn, Research Director, Network Services, Current Analysis.
“We’ve listened to our customers and partners, and these Ethernet services reflect what they want – more speeds at affordable price points with business-class service level agreements,” said Dan Foster, President, Business Markets, MegaPath. “The introduction of MegaPath’s asymmetrical Business Ethernet services sets a new standard for what business customers should expect from an asymmetrical service by delivering true business-class performance and features with real uptime guarantees.”
As the nationwide Ethernet leader, MegaPath maintains the broadest footprint in the United States and continues to aggressively expand its Ethernet service offerings. Today, MegaPath’s Ethernet over Copper (EoC) services are available in 700 COs nationwide. By year end, MegaPath plans to increase the availability of all of its Ethernet services, including its asymmetrical services, into the same 700 COs.
