Huawei Launches CA Total Solution for Realizing Truly Seamless MBB User Experience

[Shenzhen, China, May 29, 2013]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, recently announced the launch of a CA (Carrier Aggregation) total solution at the company’s annual Global Analyst Summit in Shenzhen. The solution is an industry-first for extending the capabilities of normal intra-site CA to also support inter-site and heterogeneous CA to help operators provide a truly seamless user experience.

A growing diversity of popular mobile broadband (MBB) applications and services continues to grow aggregate data traffic levels worldwide, with total MBB traffic widely forecasted to grow 500 times over the next decade. Scarcity of spectrum resources, however, is preventing proportionally appropriate increases in network capacity to support exponentially increasing demand, and recent years have seen considerable industry debate over how operators can best utilize existing spectrum asset to provide more capacity.

Huawei’s CA total solution is designed to maximize spectrum resource utilization for existing operator assets as a key component of the No-Edge network concept for anywhere, anytime coverage. It is deployable using Huawei’s SRC (Single Radio Controller) hardware platform solution for centralized cell resource coordination.

Peter Zhou, VP & COO for Huawei LTE, said: “Through customer-centric innovation and strong partnerships, we are dedicated to providing competitive solutions that create maximum value for our customers. Our CA total solution not only dramatically increases spectrum resource utilization and increase peak data rates, but does so while flexibly combine bandwidth to solve spectrum discontinuity.”

In October 2012, Huawei partnered with a leading operator to launch the world’s first commercial LTE-Advanced network that provides downlink peak rates of up to 300 Mb/s. Numerous global operators have since announced they intend to utilize CA technologies to take simultaneous advantage of multiple LTE spectrum licenses.

By April 2013, Huawei had won more than 160 commercial LTE networks and deployed 78 commercial LTE networks worldwide. With a global business footprint on six continents, Huawei LTE covers more than 70 capitals and top nine financial centers in the world.

Huawei’s CA total solution is a part of Huawei’s SoftMobile suite of solutions that builds upon the successful foundation of SingleRAN amid industry movement away from voice-and-text, pure-pipe services to an era of data diversity and new vertical market revenue streams. SoftMobile provides ocean-like broadband, orchestration and on-demand network features to leverage the creation of new mobile broadband business models.
