RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., May 22, 2013 – Overture, innovating at the metro edge for service providers and network operators worldwide, today announced Global Capacity, a leading network connectivity company, has selected the 6000 Multi-service Carrier Ethernet platform to enable both Ethernet and TDM-based access services over a single Ethernet interconnection. The Overture 6000 was chosen to become part of Global Capacity’s One Hub solution, offering customers the options of 1 or 10 Gig ENNIs connecting to more than 3,000,000 addresses in the U.S. with native Ethernet services. Over the same interconnect, service providers can procure and connect all of their TDM network needs through One Marketplace’s nearly ubiquitous footprint.
By deploying the Overture 6000 in its network, Global Capacity will bring MEF-certified performance assured Ethernet services to existing customers currently being served over any TDM access. Ethernet service can be delivered to up to 672 end-customers not directly connected to the fiber network using a single compact 2RU Overture 6000 platform. In addition, the Overture 6000 platform supports cost effective pre-aggregation of TDM-based IP services traditionally terminated on service provider edge routers. This IP service aggregation application can save up to 70 percent CapEx when compared to using a router.
“Because many of our TDM customers want to move to Ethernet services but simply aren’t ready for fiber or don’t have fiber access as an option, we needed a unique and flexible solution that we could implement quickly and easily,” said Jack Lodge, president, Global Capacity. “Overture has been a great partner and the 6000 is a unique, very reliable and flexible platform that fits seamlessly within our One Hub and One Marketplace architecture, allowing us to bring performance-assured Ethernet to thousands of new customer locations.”
“Global Capacity’s One Marketplace enables customers to accelerate time-to-market and provide ubiquitous services by automating the procurement of network connectivity,” said Mike Aquino, president and CEO, Overture. “The One Hub concept provides a consolidated interconnection, offering buyers a cost-effective and efficient means to expand their networks. We are delighted the Overture 6000 plays such a significant part in the way services can be bought and sold for our customers.”
