Company Earns Metro Ethernet Forum 2.0 E-Access Compliance
As the telecom industry celebrates the 40th anniversary of the filing of the first Ethernet patent, Fibertech Networks, a leading regional provider of fiber optic bandwidth services, today announced it has achieved Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). With more than 50% of its business comprised of lit service solutions over the past 5 years, this certification demonstrates the company’s dedication to the pursuit of carrier class Ethernet service.
“This is a great achievement and demonstrates Fibertech’s advanced technical abilities while showcasing our commitment to quality products and services,” said Earl Ipsaro, Vice President of Engineering at Fibertech.
After extensive compliance testing, the MEF certified Fibertech’s Ethernet service as a CE 2.0 E-Access service. All of the company’s services are provisioned directly over its fully owned and operated fiber infrastructure. One of the company’s core principles is that it doesn’t lease other carrier’s fiber for last mile connectivity. No matter the size of the business or size of the bandwidth being provisioned, Fibertech builds direct last mile fiber connectivity into its end user locations.
“Carrier Ethernet has become the industry’s biggest success story of the past decade,” said Nan Chen, President, MEF.“A milestone was reached this year when for the first time Carrier Ethernet services share of bandwidth exceeded the sum total of all legacy telecoms services across the world, making it the dominant technology in the carrier space. Last year over 1.2 billion new Ethernet ports were shipped (400 million wired and 800 million wireless) according to IDC, and Frost & Sullivan, Vertical Systems and Infonetics predict a near $48 billion services market by 2015.”
According to the 2012 Business Connectivity Report Card compiled by consulting firm ATLANTIC-ACM, Fibertech was the highest rated provider for Metro Ethernet Private Line quality and performance for consecutive years. This rating from customers, combined with its recent MEFcertification, further validates the company’s commitment of offering high-quality bandwidth solutions.
“Fibertech has always been passionate about the pursuit of carrier grade transport, and that is why we chose to support the MEF in both membership and certification,” added Tom Perrone, Director of Engineering and Planning for Fibertech. “Provider transparency, standardization on interconnections, as well as all of the other qualifications necessary for certification, makes it a perfect fit for Fibertech and our customers. This certification provides peace of mind and validation of our services for both our carrier and enterprise customers.”
