U-verse Recognized For The Second Time Due To Customer Value, Innovation and Growth
Dallas, Texas, May 21, 2013
AT&T* announced today that AT&T U-verse® TV has been named Frost & Sullivan’s 2013 Video Company of the Year. AT&T U-verse was selected due to excellence in customer value, innovation and growth. The company also won the award in 2009. Frost & Sullivan is a leading analyst firm that analyzes new market research and growth opportunities for the technology industry.
“Growing market share in a hyper-competitive market is not easy. It requires a combination of good strategy, significant innovation and attention to customer needs,” said Frost & Sullivan Information and Communication Technologies Analyst Gina Villanueva. “It’s noteworthy that AT&T continues to consistently thread the needle of consumer expectations, remain innovative and grow market share. We’re pleased to present this award to AT&T.”
AT&T announced several enhancements to its service over the past year, including innovative new apps, multi-screen content and new channels. U-verse Easy Remote, Facebook on TV, and an upgraded U-verse App for smartphones and tablet brought new levels of interactivity and ease of use for U-verse TV customers. New U-verse High Speed Internet customers also received more value by receiving a select Wi-Fi-enabled entertainment device at no additional charge as part of their packages. AT&T also introduced a new, media-rich U-verse On Demand storefront, designed to provide a more intuitive and convenient way to discover your favorite movies and TV shows.
“We’re committed to delivering the best experience and the best value to our customers, and we’re proud to see that commitment reflected in this Frost & Sullivan recognition,” said Mel Coker, Chief Marketing Officer, AT&T Home Solutions. “But it doesn’t stop here. We plan to continue to enhance the customer experience with TV apps, multi-screen content and other features to make the U-verse experience the best it can be.”
In 2012, AT&T added 709,000 U-verse TV customers, and as of first quarter 2013, had 4.8 million U-verse TV customers in service. AT&T U-verse is the fastest growing TV provider in the U.S., adding more TV subscribers in total than any of the major TV providers reported since 2009**. U-verse is transforming AT&T’s consumer business, and as of first quarter 2013, has annualized total revenues of approximately $10.8 billion, after launching only seven years ago.
In November 2012, AT&T announced Project Velocity IP (VIP), an investment plan to significantly expand and enhance its wireless and wireline IP broadband networks to support growing customer demand for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud services.
Frost & Sullivan is the latest organization to recognize AT&T U-verse for its advances in innovation. The AT&T U-verse Easy Remote app has been recognized with a 2013 Access Award from the American Foundation for the Blind, the TelcoTV Vision Award for “Best Innovation in Consumer Viewing Experiences,” and the TV Connect Award for “Best TV App,” as well as named a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Awards honoree in the new Accessible and Universal Design Technologies product category.
