Sprint Selects Interxion for European Point of Presence in Spain

U.S. capacity provider extends international Ethernet coverage to Madrid to meet growing demand from Spanish market

MADRID – 16 April 2013 INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced that Sprint, a global provider of wireless and wireline communications services, has extended its wireline network with Interxion to include a Point of Presence (PoP) in Interxion’s Madrid Campus. With existing PoPs in Interxion’s Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Brussels and Vienna data centres, Sprint is expanding the reach of its international Ethernet access services to provide its U.S.-based customers with close proximity and optimal connectivity to Interxion’s clients and partners in Spain.

Organisations that require a large amount of bandwidth rely on Sprint’s Ethernet access, which provides dedicated and aggregated speeds of 2 megabits up to 1 gigabit per second, reducing businesses’ network costs for high-bandwidth zones.

As part of an ongoing expansion of its core network backbone, Sprint chose Interxion’s Madrid data centre to access its unique community of carriers and ISPs, and create new business opportunities for multi-national customers looking to expand further into Europe and Spain.  Interxion’s city-centre facilities are the ideal partners for Sprint, enabling the company to provide its customers robust, resilient services, while also offering the opportunity to interconnect with other carriers and capacity providers.

Michael Rolff, Director EMEA Network Services at Sprint, commented, “Sprint continues to invest in its network capabilities within Europe. Through having a presence in Interxion’s Madrid data centre, Sprint remains focused on ensuring its customers continue to have direct access to facilities with the highest levels of connectivity, reliability and scalability they require, in supporting mission critical applications around the world.”

Robert Assink, Interxion Managing Director, Spain, added, “Sprint is a premier International Capacity provider and its commitment to grow with Interxion demonstrates the strong returns our data centre facilities continue to provide.”

Sprint offers MPLS service in 157 countries and Ethernet access in 147 cities in the United States and 80 countries. For more information, visit www.sprint.com/convergence.
