“I am extremely pleased to announce Maria as our general counsel. She has extensive experience in global legal roles for multinational companies, including building and leading international teams of lawyers,” said Suri. “She has the depth required to address legal requirements across our company, from customer-focused deal making to enhancing our corporate governance systems and enforcing our strict compliance policies throughout the organization.”
Varsellona holds a law degree from the University of Palermo (Italy) and has obtained admission to practice as an avvocato in Italy, and as a solicitor in England and Wales. As an adjunct professor, she lectured on international contract drafting and negotiation at the Law Faculty of the University of Florence (Italy) and the European Commission selected her as an expert stakeholder in the Common Frame of Reference project for the harmonization of European contract law.
