Media Advisory: Juniper Networks to Demo Contrail Controller Technology at Open Networking Summit and Discuss Its SDN Strategy

SUNNYVALE, CA–(Marketwired – Apr 15, 2013) – Juniper Networks (NASDAQ:JNPR, news, filings), the industry leader in network innovation, today announced its participation at the 2013 Open Networking Summit at the Santa Clara Convention Center, April 15-17. The Open Networking Summit is sponsored by the Open Networking Forum (ONF), which actively promotes OpenFlow and software-defined networking (SDN) standardization. Juniper Networks is an ONS exhibitor and will show three technology demonstrations at the show as well as speak on the “Leading Incumbents Approach to SDN” panel.

ONS Panel: Leading Incumbents’ Approach to SDN
Mike Marcellin, senior vice president of product marketing and strategy for Juniper Networks, will be a featured ONS speaker on SDN futures, April 16 at 11:30 a.m. PDT. Marcellin will discuss how Juniper is delivering SDN-ready solutions for customers and highlight Juniper’s 6-4-1 strategy for capitalizing on SDN.

Technology Demonstrations at Juniper Networks Booth No. 106
Juniper Networks experts will be on site to show how the OpenFlow programmable network protocol has been implemented throughout the product portfolio. Juniper will demonstrate three products, including:

  • OpenFlow demo on Juniper Networks® EX9200 programmable switch. Juniper will show the EX9200 acting as a hybrid switch providing OpenFlow support and regular Network Access Control (NAC) over a Layer 2 or MPLS infrastructure. The demo validates a NAC use case for centralized authentication and granular control over the network using OpenFlow.
  • A multi-tenant cloud demo using a hybrid controller acquired through Contrail Systems that allows customers to manage virtual networks. The typical work flow for a multi-tenant cloud operator includes creating virtual networks for a front-end web-tier, a back-end database-tier and a public network.
  • JunosV App Engine virtualization demo showing mobile operator applications on Juniper networking hardware and X86 servers.
