DukeNet Communications Names David Herran Vice President of Network Architecture and Technology Planning

DukeNet Communications, a leading regional fiber provider of high-bandwidth connectivity solutions for enterprise, data center and carrier businesses in the Southeast, announces today that it has named David Herran its new Vice President of an expanded Network Architecture and Technology Planning team.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – April 4, 2013 – DukeNet Communications, a leading regional fiber provider of high-bandwidth connectivity solutions for enterprise, data center and carrier businesses in the Southeast, announces today that it has named David Herran its new Vice President of an expanded Network Architecture and Technology Planning team.

In this role, Mr. Herran will be the chief strategist and architect for all ongoing technology development, implementation and training as well as identification, evaluation and development of new network platforms.

Mr. Herran will oversee an expanded team with responsibilities including:

  • Ongoing development of DukeNet’s Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS and 100G coherent DWDM capabilities and product management
  • Identification and evaluation of all next-generation technologies that align with DukeNet’s long-term strategy, including software defined networking (SDN), packet/optical convergence and cloud computing
  • Development of new network platforms, while defining service and network architecture standards
  • Technical training
  • Network expansion
  • Small cell product development efforts
  • Sales engineering
