FairPoint Takes to Streets to Support Spectrum

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (March 26, 2013) – Four employees of FairPoint Communications will spend the night on the streets of Burlington Thursday to raise awareness of youth homelessness as part of Spectrum Youth and Family Services annual Sleep Out.

Jeff Allen, executive vice president of sales, Bryan Lamphere, senior IT director, John Lunny, senior vice president of engineering and Tom Nolting, vice president of billing and revenue, will join more than 70 other business and community leaders as Spectrum looks to raise $150,000 to help youth and families throughout Vermont.

FairPoint also donated $2,500 to the event in honor of its employees’ efforts and the four FairPoint team members are each raising additional funds on their own for Spectrum.

“Spectrum’s Sleep Out is a demonstration of the realities that face some Vermont teens and their struggle to build a better life for themselves,” said Nolting, who is participating for a second straight year. “I am showing my solidarity for the hope Spectrum gives our next generation of Vermonters.”

Since 1970, Spectrum Youth & Family Services has been helping at-risk youth and their families. In 2012, Spectrum served more than 3,000 young people and their families by providing meals, housing, and support services including education support, employment training, substance abuse and mental health counseling, life skills training, and more.
