CenturyLink names Kevin McCarter Central Region president

McCarter will oversee company’s operational, financial and customer experience performance for the region

MONROE, La., March 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE:CTL, news, filings) has named Kevin McCarter, currently vice president and general manager for the company’s central and eastern North Carolina markets, as the new president for the company’s Central Region. He will be based in the region headquarters in Denver, and will oversee operations in an eight-state territory comprised of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

In this new role, McCarter will have responsibility for the company’s operational, financial, and customer experience performance throughout the region. As the region’s highest-ranking executive, he will oversee a wide range of employees, including six market-level vice presidents and general managers.

He joined United Telephone Company of Florida in February 1988 as a management trainee and has held positions of increasing responsibility at Sprint, Embarq and CenturyLink. His career has included leadership roles in network engineering, customer service, and field operations.

McCarter has been in his current position since July 2009. He has been responsible for all aspects of operations and retail sales for central and eastern North Carolina, including product and service installation and repair, sales and service, retail operations, marketing and public affairs.  He was also responsible for managing the successful launch of CenturyLink Prism TV in the North Carolina market.
