24/7 Mid-Atlantic Reaches Dark Fiber Agreement with a Global Telecommunications Provider

Offers over 100 miles of access along an exclusive route on the Delmarva Peninsula

Baltimore, MD (PRWEB) March 06, 2013

24/7 Mid-Atlantic Network, LLC, one of the fastest growing regionally-owned and operated fiber optic network service providers on the East Coast, announces that it has entered into an agreement to provide extensive dark fiber capacity to a leading global telecommunications company. With this agreement, 24/7 furthers the customer’s competitive edge by adding more than 100 miles of diverse network connectivity between Salisbury, Maryland and New Castle, Delaware.

The agreement is an expansion of the existing partnership between the two organizations that validates 24/7’s ability to deliver state-of-the-art high-bandwidth fiber optic solutions to one of the world’s premier telecommunications companies.

“This carrier has been a great partner for 24/7, and we are pleased with the opportunity to deepen our relationship through a long-term commitment along this important route,” said George Rich, chairman of 24/7 Mid-Atlantic Network and General Partner of Baltimore-based GRI Fund II, L.P. 24/7 has been a portfolio company of GRI Fund II, L.P. since March 2012.

The carrier selected 24/7 because it offers an extensive dark fiber network in an area experiencing increasing demand for high-bandwidth capacity. Dark fiber optic cable offers scalable and potentially unlimited bandwidth capacity, as directed by customer need and transport equipment capabilities. Dark fiber is therefore advantageous for organizations such as carriers, large enterprises, and government entities that require high-capacity transport with the added benefit of a private network environment.

“What makes this route unique is that it offers a component of a diverse route between Washington, D.C. and New York City, which bypasses the congested corridor along I-95 while being within reach of multiple data centers and government facilities,” said Chris Morris, President and COO of 24/7. “In addition, the network has hundreds of strands of available fiber, which means that it provides unlimited opportunity for future growth.”

Executives from 24/7 will be attending COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2013 Convention and Expo taking place March 10-13 in Las Vegas, NV. To schedule a meeting with 24/7 at the conference, contact us at info@247MidAtlantic.com.
