NTT Communications Commands the Conversation on Internet and Enterprise

Company Executives Speak out on Strategic Technologies and Trends Impacting Global Business Today

New York, NY  –  January 14, 2013 – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT (NYSE:NTT, news, filings), today announced the company participated in and sponsored several key conferences during the fourth quarter of 2012, offering insights and perspectives on developments in the Internet that will impact enterprises in 2013.  At leading business conferences in the United States, executives from the company’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, NTT America, addressed technologies and trends shaping today’s global business decisions, notably mobile media consumption, cloud computing, software defined networks (SDN), and business continuity/disaster recovery (BC/DR) in the era of big data.

In October, Ms. Teri Francis, NTT America’s Vice President of Customer Solutions, spoke at the Digital Hollywood Fall 2012 conference, joining industry leaders in a panel discussion about video across platforms – television, broadband and mobile – and understanding the three screen value proposition.  As a leading provider of enterprise hosting, managed network and global IP networking services, NTT America has unique insight into how digital entertainment executives and content decision makers can cost effectively and securely offer anytime anywhere programming options, build social media networks, and launch content-rich apps to support growth and additional revenue opportunities.

During her talk, Ms. Francis emphasized the proliferation of mobile devices in the marketplace and consumers’ increasing preference to watch high-definition video on their mobile devices, as well as on televisions connected to the Internet.  Shining the spotlight on NTT Communications’ global, high performance Internet backbone, she discussed why the company’s network architecture is optimal for video distribution and delivery to any screen anywhere in the world.

At the Gartner Symposium / ITxpo 2012 in October, Mr. Kazuhiro Gomi, NTT America’s CEO, and Mr. Doug Junkins, CTO, led a workshop to help executives visualize how to improve productivity and reduce costs with software defined networking, network virtualization and the global cloud.  The interactive workshop addressed what companies need to know to formulate or enhance their global cloud strategy and action plan, covering opportunities and benefits of software defined networking and network virtualization for the global cloud.  NTT Communications is the first service provider to apply SDN technology through the OpenFlow protocol to its Infrastructure-as-as Service (IaaS) offering, the NTT Com Enterprise Cloud.

In November, attendees of Light Reading’s Ethernet Expo Americas 2012 gained insight from NTT Communications’ first mover advantage in software defined networks.  Mr. Junkins delivered a keynote presentation during which he profiled potential cost-saving benefits that software defined networks provide network operators and the game-changing opportunities the technology presents service providers to differentiate their service and application portfolios.

In December, Mr. Craig Hurley, NTT America’s Director of Product Management, provided a detailed analysis of the main components required for a Recovery as a Service (RaaS) program at the Gartner Data Center Conference, educating data center professionals about how they can implement a RaaS program within a complete IT strategy.  For enterprises grappling with the storage of ever growing volumes of data – on premise, in the cloud, or both – data audit, archive and recovery are becoming increasingly complex activities.  Mr. Hurley highlighted NTT America’s Cloud Recovery, a solution that proves especially valuable to CIOs, as it provides fully managed BC/DR for mission-critical infrastructure, cloud-to-cloud or premises-to-cloud, in the event of planned or unplanned outages.
