Drew’s Entertainment Cuts Costs, Increases Efficiency and Streamlines IT Operations with MegaPath Cloud-Based Services

MegaPath’s Hosted Voice, Hosted Exchange and Enterprise Cloud Hosting Simplify Office Move and Provide Business Continuity after Hurricane Sandy

PLEASANTON, Calif. – January 16, 2013 MegaPath Corporation, one of the leading providers of managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, today announced that Drew’s Entertainment and its parent company, Drew Route 22 Properties, have selected MegaPath for their voice and IT services needs. The companies are utilizing MegaPath’s Hosted Exchange, Cloud Hosting and Hosted Voice services to support the business requirements of their Green Brook, N.J. office and warehouse.

As Drew’s Entertainment prepared to relocate to its office from Edison, N.J. to Green Brook, the company evaluated its costs and determined it would be expensive and time consuming to move its existing PBX-based phone and email system to the new location. This led the company to select MegaPath’s Hosted Exchange and Hosted Voice services – providing streamlined costs and additional functionality that their existing solutions did not offer.

In the midst of the company’s move, Hurricane Sandy flooded its existing facility and ruined the entire server network. Instead of replacing the physical servers, Drew Route 22 and its subsidiaries added MegaPath’s Enterprise Cloud Hosting to their communications investment, ensuring that their corporate data would be safe from future natural and manmade disasters. This decision reduced the companies’ server size from six physical servers to three virtual servers and enabled Drew’s Entertainment and Drew Route 22 to resume operations within two days of ordering the Cloud services.

“Hurricane Sandy destroyed everything in our existing facility – from the carpets and walls to the servers. After going through that, we decided it did not make sense to acquire and operate these items on-premises in our new facilities,” said Les Kurian, who oversees IT operations for Drew Route 22. “With MegaPath’s Cloud-based services, we can rest assured that we have a reliable business continuity solution in place and our teams can easily and securely communicate with their colleagues, partners and customers from any location.”

MegaPath’s Hosted Exchange delivers corporate-class email, shared calendars and task management, boosting productivity, collaboration and communications for Drew’s Entertainment’s and Drew Route 22’s employees. In addition, the companies’ employees can take advantage of advanced calling features with Hosted Voice such as Find Me/Follow Me, Visual Voicemail and Hosted Voice Mobile, which were not available with Drew’s Entertainment’s previous PBX solution. These offerings enable the Drew Route 22 teams to work remotely and maintain email and phone access – regardless of their location.

“MegaPath’s Hosted Voice, Hosted Exchange and Enterprise Cloud Hosting are ideal solutions for companies that are looking to cut their costs without sacrificing functionality or quality of service,” said Dan Foster, President, Business Markets, MegaPath. “Our team is proud of its work to help the Drew Route 22 team resume, and improve, operations after being impacted by Hurricane Sandy, and we look forward to continuing to work with their team to further optimize their IT investment.”
