Creates 35 Mile High-Fiber-Count Network in Hermiston Region
LOUISVILLE, Colo.– December 6, 2012 – Zayo Group announces it is expanding its fiber footprint in Eastern Oregon by laying 35 miles of 96-count fiber for a newly implemented Fiber-to-the-Tower (FTT) project. The build will provide a fiber presence to encompassing Oregon cities, including Hermiston and Umatilla County.
This build highlights Zayo’s continued success-based investment in its network as well as the desire to build fiber networks in rural underserved markets. Zayo provides service in markets similar to Umatilla, providing Bandwidth Infrastructure solutions in areas that previously had limited bandwidth available to customers. In addition to addressing near-term needs for specific customers, the network provides important Bandwidth Infrastructure to support future economic development.
“The expansion in Eastern Oregon is consistent with our business strategy to invest on behalf of our customers while creating long-term infrastructure that can be leveraged by others for a broad range of applications,” states Brett Palmer, VP, Dark Fiber Product Group at Zayo Group.
Zayo’s tower footprint currently provides an on-net tower footprint of over 2,600 cell towers. Zayo’s network expansion will allow customers to benefit from scalable Bandwidth Infrastructure solutions enabled by this build.
