Telx Expansion Powers Chicago and Phoenix Markets
Interconnection and Colocation Leader Expands Presence in Critical Facilities
New York, NY (December 5, 2012) – Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud enablement services and datacenter solutions, today announced significant expansions of its CHI1 data center at 350 E. Cermak Chicago, IL, along with its PHX1 facility at 120 E. Van Buren Phoenix, AZ. Telx’s CHI1 facility, strategically located in downtown Chicago, is within the world’s largest datacenter at 1.1 million square feet and one of the most critical facilities for the financial services industry. Inside that facility, Telx operates the critical Interconnection area “Meet-Me-Room” and with this expansion provides colocation services in six independent suites, making Telx one of the largest colocation providers in the facility. Today’s announcement also highlights a 60 percent footprint expansion of its PHX1 facility located in the heart of Phoenix’s downtown business district.
These strategic expansions enable new and existing Telx clients to grow and expand their services within an ecosystem of cloud services, digital media, financial markets and enterprises of various sizes. The continued growth of Telx’s colocation and interconnection services provide the uptime and security that critical applications demand while reducing risk and exposure when compared to hosting “on-premises.”
“Today’s announcement expands our services in one of Chicago’s most important locations for enterprises across the Midwest for deploying and connecting key edge applications” said Ron Sterbenz, vice president of marketing for Telx. “It’s an important expansion in a location that other providers had exhausted their available space in and yet is very unique in its proximity to service Chicago and the larger Midwest. CHI1 offers a high degree of interconnectivity between enterprises as well as an ideal facility for firms to place network service nodes for tethering back to other cloud and SaaS providers such as AWS and other services. We remain committed to expanding in markets where this digital demand continues to grow across all verticals.”
“We are pleased to extend our relationship with Telx at 350 E. Cermak, the location continues to serve as a cornerstone for enterprises of all types who require network and interconnection densities. While many providers embark on building ecosystems of content and service providers, Telx is well beyond the development stage and extensively interconnected with many of Chicago’s premier companies and brands,” said Patrick McSween, director of channel sales at Digital Realty Trust.
“In addition to improving performance and uptime of critical applications, our PHX1 facility is ideal for digital media and enterprise companies looking for a premier location for operation or disaster recovery,” said Ken Kajikawa, general manager for digital media at Telx. “Phoenix’s low percentage of natural disasters and incidences provides an ideal and secure environment for Telx’s customers who rely on consistent service delivery for content that is critical to their business models.”
